Google Assessment for ELO-specific scoring
If you are new to Google Drive, please review the objectives from the Introduction and Intermediate Stages of Google Training if you encounter
Another great way to easily create a simple Google form assessment. |
Step 1: Copying the Assessment Template
OBJECTIVES:
1. CLICK HERE to open the Google Template folder. 2. Copy the Google Template (responses) spreadsheet. A copy will also be made of the Google Template form when this is done. 3. Rename the files and drag (or move) to your "My Drive". 4. Open up the Google Template form and build your test form by inserting questions and answers. This template has a maximum of 50 questions, but you can delete any questions you do not need. DO NOT move questions around within the form as this may skew your key and scoring results. |
Step 2: Setting Up Your Scoring
OBJECTIVES:
1. Open up your Google Template (responses) spreadsheet. 2. Find the "Key" worksheet within the spreadsheet. 3. Fill out the point value for each question of your test. (The template is defaulted to 1 point per question, but you may adjust it as you'd like it.) 4. Create categories for the types of questions you have on your test. This is where you can identify specific Essential Learning Outcomes (ELOs) that you would like to measure within your assessment. 5. Categorize each question by typing the number of the category into the "Question Category #" field. |
Step 3: Setting Up Your Answer Key
OBJECTIVES:
1. Reopen your Google Template form and double check to make sure your test form is error free. 2. Click on "Go to live form" and fill out the test using your test answer key. Your first submission of the test will become the key! 3. Make sure you see the form completed message before closing out of the window. |
Step 4: Test Drive Your Assessment
OBJECTIVES:
1. Reopen your Google Assessment Template (responses) spreadsheet and check your Test Key for scoring accuracy. 2. Reopen the "Live Form" and take the assessment again to test the scoring. |
Step 5: Administering the Assessment
OBJECTIVES:
1. Reopen the "Live Form" of your assessment and copy the URL. 2. Hyperlink the URL somewhere on your teacher website so that students can use the link to access the test. 3. RECOMMENDED: Create a separate page on your website for your test hyperlink and create a password to keep people out! Share your password with your students before they take the assessment. |
