Using Google Calendar for your Class Calendar

Stage 1: Locating Your Google Calendar + Basics
OBJECTIVES:
1. Log into your Google account and click on the Calendar application from your Google applications list. 2. Locate the Day, Week, Month, etc. buttons on the top of the calendar. 3. Locate "My Calendars" and "Other Calendars" lists. |
Stage 2: Creating a New Calendar
OBJECTIVES:
1. Click the drop-down button in "My Calendars" and select "Create a New Calendar". 2. Name your calendar. Keep in mind that if you're sharing this calendar you should have a name that makes it easy to identify for others. Follow the template to create the calendar. 3. If you are creating a calendar for your classroom, make sure to click the box to make your calendar public. 4. Find your calendar in your "My Calendar" list. If you cannot locate it, you did not save the calendar and must restart stage 2. 5. Create a new event. Make sure that the calendar drop-down "Calendar" button within the new event template has your calendar lists, or it will NOT be put on your calendar. |
Stage 3: Linking Documents and/or Folders
OBJECTIVES:
1. You can link a Google folder, Google document, or a web link in your calendar by copy-and-pasting the link code (located below) into the "Description" text field in the "Create an Event" template. Stage 4: Sharing Your Google Calendar
OBJECTIVES:
1. Relocate your calendar in your "My Calendar" list and click the drop-down button next to the calendar you wish to share and select "Share this Calendar". 2. If you are creating a calendar for a classroom, I would recommend clicking the box that makes your calendar public. (This allows anyone on the web with access to a link of your calendar.) 3. If you wish to share your calendar with specific individuals, you can enter emails on the bottom portion of the template. |

OBJECTIVES:
1. Relocate your calendar in your "My Calendar" list and click the drop-down button next to the calendar you wish to share and select "Calendar Settings". 2. Locate the embedding code next to "Embed this Calendar". Select and copy this text. 3. If you wish to customize the color, size and options for your calendar there is a link you can click to do so just above the embedding code. |

1. Relocate your calendar in your "My Calendar" list and click the drop-down button next to the calendar you wish to share and select "Calendar Settings". 2. On the bottom of the settings template there is a link to permanently delete your calendar. |
Stage 7: Adding a Calendar to your Calendar List
1. Click on the "+ Google Calendar" button on the bottom right of the calendar you see below.
2. When you click it will automatically send you to your Google calendar application (you may need to sign into your account). 3. You'll see the calendar added to your "Other Calendars" list on the bottom left of the screen. |
